L-Shaped Standing Desk

Are L-Shaped Desks Good?

A good standing desk is the kind that can match or surpass their user’s requirements and preferences. The great thing about our L-shaped corner desk is that its specifications can handle a large majority of user requirements who are working from home or in offices. There are also many different available combination options for tabletops and frame colors to fit as many individual preferences as possible. Keep reading to learn more!

Specifications

Our L-shaped corner desk has plenty of extra desk space to install monitor stands or anything else you need on your desk! This is because the Corner Ryzer frame has adjustable lengths and widths to allow for large surface areas on top. With a large surface area, it is easier to add extra cable management accessories and under-desk storage to maintain an organized workstation. Steel construction of the framing ensures high durability and a 330 lbs weight capacity that is perfect for lifting the typical loads found on home and office desks.

Specifications of L-shaped corner desk

Our L-shaped workstation has a travelling speed of 1.5 inches/second to ensure fast and efficient use of time when changing heights. The height of our L shaped desk is adjustable from 23.6” to 49.1” to suit many different users of varying heights. It even comes with a collision-detection feature so users can change the desk height without the concern of accidentally crushing objects underneath.

L-Shaped Desks vs Straight Rectangular Desks

Regular desks and L-shaped corner desks are the most frequently purchased types of height adjustable standing desks commonly found in homes and offices. They both have strengths and weaknesses depending on user budget, use case; and personal preferences however, the major advantages to consider for L-shaped corner desks would include their:

  1. Multiple Tabletop Combinations
  2. Higher Weight Capacity
  3. Greater Stability

Not ready to commit to a full standing desk? Our desk converters are a great more affordable alternative!

1.     Multiple Tabletop Combinations

Straight rectangular desks like the Solo Ryzer and Economy Ryzer have a combined total of four different tabletop configurations to choose from. In comparison, our L-shaped corner desk has 10 different tabletop configuration options for more variety of different shapes and sizes.

More tabletop combinations with the L shaped desks allows for a higher possibility of finding the exact configuration that is most efficient at utilizing their end user’s available space. When placed near the corner of a room, its L-shaped design also allows for improved space usage and efficiency.

Using a long L-shaped desk allows users to experience a more convenient working space with its larger surface area. A larger working surface area helps reduce the chance of bumping into or accidentally knocking down the items placed on the tabletop.

2.     Higher Weight Capacity

There are some instances where a straight desk may have just enough working surface area but not necessarily enough weight capacity for the total expected load. Compared our regular desk options with 270 lbs or 155 lbs weight capacity ratings, our Corner Ryzer frame for L-shaped desks offers a higher weight capacity rating of 330 lbs. In office use, multiple monitors, printers, and office supplies can be found on workstations which have heavy tabletops already installed. The weight capacity ratings of our frames do not include the tabletop’s weight since there are many different tabletops to choose from. Using an L-shaped office desk allows for a higher weight capacity to confidently handle the expected loads on a day-to-day basis.

3.    Greater Stability

Both our L-shaped corner desks and rectangular desks feel quite similar in stability for lower seated heights; however, the difference in stability becomes noticible when raised to standing heights. Our rectangular desks do not have much wobble when used for casual tasks like office work in a standing position, however, leaning or accidentally bumping into a raised straight desk can cause unwanted wobble. This is because they only have two points of contact with the floor, resulting in front and back wobble being noticible due to no extra support when standing.

In contrast, an L-shaped corner desk has three points of contact touching the floor with its 3rd foot perpendicular to the main framing. This allows an L-shaped workstation to have greater stability and less unwanted wobble compared to straight desks when raised to a standing position.

In Summary

The variety of different shapes, sizes, and colors available for our Corner Ryzer makes this L-shaped corner desk a great option to consider for home and office use. When compared to straight desks, an L-shaped workstation has notable key advantages such as more tabletop combination options, a higher weight capacity and greater stability.
